A simple guide to getting clear, focused, and intentional—without the pressure.
January isn’t about reinventing yourself. It’s not about doing more, becoming someone new, or keeping up with anyone else’s timeline. It’s about getting clear.
Before you rush into setting goals, big decisions, or perfectly planned calendars, we need to pause. Take a minute to think about the year behind you and get clear about what do you want out of the year to come. Now it is time to create direction – on your terms.
This is where your Goal Roadmap comes in.
Think of your year like a road trip. You wouldn’t start driving without knowing where you’re headed, right? You’d choose a destination, map the route, and trust that staying on the path will eventually get you there – even if there are detours. Your life works the same way. And you are in the driver’s seat.
The Destination = Your Goal
The Route or Directions = How you will get there
The Stops Along the Way = The steps you need to complete to make it to your destination
This roadmap isn’t about pressure or perfection. It’s a gentle guide to help you move through the year with intention, confidence, and clarity – one powerful move at a time.
So how do you create this Goal Roadmap? Follow the 4 step process below…
Step 1: Choose Your Destination
Start simple. You don’t need a long list of goals. Ask yourself, what are three things I want to accomplish this year? These are your destinations.
Some examples might be – creating more financial stability, prioritizing your health, building something meaningful (a career shift, a personal goal, a new routine). If it matters to you, it counts.
Step 2: Map the Route
Now that you know where you’re going, let’s figure out how you’ll get there. Ask yourself, what would need to happen for me to accomplish these goals? These are your directions. Break each into smaller steps and think of them as stops along the way.
Step 3: Decide How You Want to Feel
This step matters more than most people realize. Ask yourself, how do I want to feel at the end of this year? Calm? Confident? Energized? Proud? Grounded? Your roadmap shouldn’t just get you somewhere. It should support the way you want to experience your life along the way.
Remember, as you are planning this journey and laying our your roadmap, you are not building from scratch. You are building from strength. Every experience you’ve lived through as a single mom – every challenge, every lesson, every season you survived – has already given you a foundation. This roadmap isn’t starting over. It’s building forward, with wisdom and resilience you already have.
