Your Vision Needs Focus

Single Mama, your Vision needs Focus! Let's work on your goals!

January 20

The simple shift that turns your goals into progress.

Can you believe we are already a couple of weeks into the new year? This is usually the point where motivation starts to wobble – not because you don’t care, but because life gets loud. Responsibilities pile up. Distractions creeping. And suddenly the goals you felt so clear about a week ago start to feel far away again.

That’s why it’s important to remember – it’s not about doing more, it’s about focus!

If you haven’t read it yet, I recommend starting with Creating Your Roadmap for the Year Ahead, which is a journal post I wrote last week. It’s a great place to start because it is all about deciding where you want go (your goals) and what matters most to you this year. Once you have that clarity, the next step is learning how to move forward without burning yourself out.

And that starts with one powerful truth: a vision without focus stays a dream. You can have the best intentions in the world, but without focus, your intentions will not turn into action.

Focus is what:

  • Turns clarity in the progress
  • Helps you start before you feel ready
  • Keep your energy pointed in one direction instead of scattered everywhere

As single moms, our attention is constantly being pulled into a dozen directions. That’s why focus isn’t just helpful, it’s essential.

So here’s how we find focus. It is a simple Power Move, but it requires intention:

Step 1: Look at your roadmap and identify the very first action step toward one goal. You’re not focusing on the entire goal or everything at once. You want to focus on just the first step.

Step 2: Decide that this step is your priority for the next 30 days. (If you finish before 30 days is up, move to the next step on your roadmap.)

Step 3: Make small, consistent choices that support it – even if you only have 20 minutes to work on it.

For example, if your goal is to buy a house at the end of the year, your first focus might be organizing your finances, researching mortgage options, or talking to a trusted broker.

So many single moms tell themselves “I’ll get to this one thing slowed down.” But clarity doesn’t come from waiting, it comes from choosing to start. Don’t let your mind talk you out of it.

You don’t need more time. You need clear priorities. (Read that again!)

When you give yourself permission to focus, you may feel like you’re falling behind another areas of your life, but you’re not! You are laying a foundation that will support everything else.

And trust me when I tell you, momentum follows focus.

Excited for you to get started – you’ve got this! And I’m right here, cheering you on!

Xo, Heather
